Cenntro presents the world’s first independent electrical cooling body for its electric vans

Herne/Hanover, 22 September 2022 – Cenntro Automotive Europe has presented the world’s first combined unit consisting of an electric van and an independently operating electric cooling body at the IAA Transportation trade fair. This unique solution for emission-free frozen and refrigerated transport operations in urban areas is available with the company’s Logistar 200 and Metro series vehicles. The delivery times range between 9 and 12 weeks.

Thanks to the integrated cooling unit and a separate battery, the temperature management for the innovative bodywork functions regardless of whether the van is moving or stationary. The cooling process does not have any effect on the vehicle’s traction battery and therefore on its range either. The CT F3 cooling body is available for the Logistar 200 Transporter and the Logistar 200 Cargo models and it is equipped with its own 48V lithium battery package with 10 kW. The CT U2 unit with its independent 24V lithium battery package and 5.5 kW is used for the compact Metro electric van.

The Metro and Logistar 200 cooling units offer the same features and benefits. The temperature range is designed to operate down to minus 20 degrees Celsius for freezing operations and up to plus 25 degrees Celsius for fresh deliveries. Regardless of the operating conditions, the goods being transported can be kept cool at a constant temperature for between six and eight hours. The quiet and emission-free way that the bodywork operates ensures that the vehicle can gain access to all environment zones and this therefore makes night deliveries more agreeable. An optional rapid charging unit means that the bodywork is ready for use after just four hours; the charging time is seven hours with the normal charging device. The cooling unit’s external battery can be charged at the same time and pre-cool the payload area.

The roof of the cooling unit can also be equipped with flexible solar cells as an extra option. As a result, it is possible to supply up to 40 percent of the battery’s capacity with renewable energy and this makes the emission-free electric utility vehicles even more sustainable. A multi-chamber body with different temperature zones is also possible.

Alain van Münster, the Vice President Sales EMEA, comments on the new structures, “Sustainable inner-city logistics requires a mixture of measures, which go beyond the drive technology. Using our eco-system, which consists of electric utility vehicles and innovative bodywork structures, we can meet the requirements of a wide range of different sectors. At the same time, we’re making an important contribution to the globally established climate goals and reducing the logistic sector’s CO2 footprint in the long term.”

Cenntro is presenting its new product portfolio at the IAA Transportation 2022 trade fair on stand E51 in hall 13 and, in the open-air section, on stand L51 until 25 September.
